On October 26th, Joshua Ramirez delivered a powerful sermon at The Lighthouse Centre, inviting the congregation to reflect deeply on Jesus’ ascension and our role as believers today.
Scripture Focus: Luke 24:44–53
Joshua began by reading from Luke 24, emphasizing Jesus’ resurrection, the fulfillment of prophecy, and His ascending to heaven. This passage reminds us: although Jesus’ mission on earth is finished (“It is finished!”), our work as Christians has just begun.
Five Aspects of Jesus’ Hands—Our Example for Living:
- Hands That Create
Jesus is the divine Creator: “Through Him all things were made…” (John 1:3). Joshua challenged us to see ourselves as God’s masterpieces, each created for unique good works, with purpose and intention. To find our purpose, we must ask our Creator. - Hands That Heal
Jesus frequently healed by the laying on of hands. Joshua recounted the story of the leper in Matthew 8, who approached Christ with faith and was instantly healed. The message: no matter how “unclean” we feel, God’s hand can restore and renew. - Hands That Provide
From feeding the 5,000 with just five loaves and two fish, Joshua explained that multiplication happens in God’s hands, not ours. When we surrender what we have to Jesus, He provides more than enough—abundant grace and provision. - Hands That Save
Joshua referenced the account of the disciples in a storm (Matthew 14) and Peter walking on water. Even when we stumble, Jesus’ saving hand immediately reaches out to lift us. Our courage comes from stepping out in faith, knowing Christ’s hand is there to catch us. - Hands That Were Pierced
The greatest symbol of love: Jesus’ hands pierced for our salvation on the cross. Joshua emphasized that scars tell the story of Christ’s victory and love. The cross is not just a symbol—it’s evidence of Christ’s sacrifice and triumph over sin and death.
A Season of Harvest
Joshua called this season “a season of harvest,” urging the church to recognize the plentiful opportunities to share the Gospel and help others find faith. “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few,” he said. It’s our time to be Jesus’ hands and feet, carrying the light into our communities.
Our Role Today
Joshua concluded with a commission:
- Believe in Jesus
- Make disciples
- Be “harvest hands”—believers ready to work, serve, heal, provide, and love with the same openness, humility, and trust as children before their Father.
As we enter into harvest season, let’s ask ourselves: How can my hands serve God’s purpose this week?
Let us walk hand in hand with Christ, bringing hope, healing, and love wherever we go.
